KTIX - Space Coast Regional Airport

All flying is out from KTIX - Space Coast Regional Airport - a class D airport with a lot of flight training - mainly from the schools helicopters but there are also a small fixed wing school located at the airport. Every day there a few commercial jets coming in as well. The tower is operating every day from 0700 to 2100 local so more or less every time you are flying you will have to talk on the radio. I can be quite hard in the beginning (I didn't get anything!!) but you will get used to it and appreciate you did your PPL at an airport with a tower as soon as you start to do your IR. The airport has two runways - rwy 18-36 and rwy 09-27. Rwy 36 which is the main rwy has an ILS and rwy 18 and 09 both have a GPS approach.
HAI has special arrival and departure routes to and from the airport so we can stay clear of the fixed wing traffic. At the airport itself we have 7 "spots" which we use when we fly in the pattern.
