Why am I in England?
Well, since I decided to take my JAA ATPL written exams during a
modular course at Cabair College of Air Training, I had to move over to
the other side of the North Sea. I flew in to Luton from Esbjerg with Ryan Air -
the cheapest flight I could find from Denmark - also the easiest airport to get
to Cranfield from in England.
I stayed the first six nights at Mitchell Hall at Cranfield University. It
was only 10 minutes walk away from Cabair, but with a price of
£25.25/night I simply could not efford it!
Cranfield: I then rented a small room in Cranfield for £55.00/week. I
did only have a bed and a small wardrobe in my room and that's all I could
possible fit in the
room! I
was sharring the house with the owner and another guy who is renting another room.
I have acces to the livingroom, kitchen (inlc. all kitchenware), washer and TV.
I borrowed the owners bicycle to get to school.
Flitwick: I moved in with Lee in August 2005. We are
living in Lee's house in Flitwick. Its a small city around an hours drive north
of London and 20 minutes from Cranfield. Everything (Tesco, post office, train
station, gym etc) is walking distance from the house which is really nice.
London: Well, London is a BIG city with lots of nice
resaurants and pubs. I am sure that you can find anything you need in London
which is really nice, but for me the city is too big. Traffic is often crazy and
the congestion zone is quite big (and fairly expensive to drive in!). Luckily
they have the tube wich makes travelling a little bit easier (I have not been
travelling during rush hour yet), lots of taxies that can take you anywhere you
would like (taxidrivers have to pass a really hard "road-exam" before thay are
allowed to be a taxidriver).
Norwich: During my JAA IR course in Norwich with
Bristow Helicopters Ltd, I am staying at a B&B. It costs £25/night and is
just around 2 miles from the airfield. I use Lee's bicycle every day to get to
and from the airfield.
