My very first "sign off" as an instructor was a CFII checkride - about a
month after a passed my own CFII ride. I think I was more nervous than my
student! I liked to do the CFII training - it can be fairly fast to get the
students ready for their checkride and it always seems like the instructor thinks
the student is ready before they think it themselves! Often my students got
surprised when I told them that I already had booked a checkride for them.
The last month I was in FL I promised quite a lot of the new
instructors to do their CFII. I was about to run out of time on my visa, but
would really like to do all the CFII's I had promised. So I came up with the HAI
CFII ground school. It was two Sundays in a row were we covered most of the
ground. Stephane our chiefpilot covered the rest with the new instructors.
- Corey Greene. I did all of Corey's training except his CFI. When
he came and asked if I could do his CFII I said yes right away. Even though
I was quite busy (as usual...) but I always had a lot of fun when I was
flying with him, so of course would like to do his CFII. In order not to
take my other students out of my schedule we had to the CFII after I was done
with my other students. We started a Friday evening with the ground and had a
really good first flight so I booked his checkride for the next week. We
managed to get a few more ground lessons and flights in before his checkride
which was 6 days after we started. He did the best CFII checkride the DPE
(Dave Thompson) had ever seen. Good job Corey

- Jhon Rozo. Jhon was hired a few days after me but did not have
his CFII at the time. So our chiefpilot asked if I could do his training.
Everything went well and Jhon became my first student to "sign off" for a checkride

- Ludvig Torsell. Ludvig had some bad luck with our few scheduled
flights - we lost quite a few due to wx or mx
We got a
flight in the same day as his checkride - and Ludvig is now a CFII.
- Mike Laurenzi. Mike is the student that required the least amount
of flights for his CFII! We had two really good flights and I signed Mike
off for his checkride
- Rich Herron. Well I can't really say that much about Rich's CFII
training. It was limited how much we did
Well done
Rich!
- Sondre Hørsdal. Sondre joined the HAI CFII
ground school as well. We managed to get a few flights in the last week I
was working

- Stig Sande was one of the last students I managed to sign of for
a checkride before my visa ran out
